The Federal Government has embarked on the distribution of grants of twenty thousand to a thousand vulnerable rural women in the Gombe state. The distribution was supervised by the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs Hajia Sadia Umar Farouque of who said the grants were given to these women following the harsh economic conditions as a result of the covid-19 pandemic. Effective November 13, Nigerians may begin to buy fuel from filling stations at prices between N172 and N175, or higher. This is because the Petroleum Products Marketing Company (PPMC) has adjusted the ex-depot price of Premium Motor Spirit, also known as petrol, from N147.67 to N155.17. The PPMC is a subsidiary of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, and currently imports almost all of Nigeria’s petrol. The Nigerian House of Representatives has queried the country’s Economic and Financial Crimes Commission for not recruiting over four hundred new staff as approved in the commission’s 2020 budget. This was part of the resolution of the House Committee on Financial Crimes, when the Acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, appeared before the committee for 2021 budget defence.
