A woman from Ibadan, Bolanle Idowu, has accused the mobile money firm OPay of failing to refund N90,000 she mistakenly transferred to a wrong account, despite a court ruling in her favor.
Idowu explained that she transferred the money to a filling station attendant on November 30 and, upon realizing the mistake, immediately contacted OPay customer care. However, OPay directed her to her bank, Guaranty Trust Bank (GTBank), for further assistance. After a lengthy process, OPay agreed to temporarily hold the funds and promised to resolve the matter by December 2.
Idowu continued her efforts to recover the money, and when OPay did not respond, she sought legal assistance. In December, her lawyer filed a case, and a court issued an order for OPay to refund the amount on December 19. She took the court order to OPay’s office on December 23, but despite acknowledging the order, the company has yet to refund the money.
OPay has not responded to requests for comment on the issue. Idowu expressed frustration, stating that she only wants her money back and is not interested in further legal action.
