The Distinguished lawmaker representing Ogun West Senatorial District, Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola (Yayi), has used the occasion of his investiture as the Grand Patron of Yewaland Development Forum to shed some light on his parentage as a bonafide son of Yewaland.

The Chairman of the Senate Committee on Appropriations, Senator Adeola, while making his remarks at the event stated unequivocally, “I am from Ogun State of mixed parentage across two Senatorial Districts of Ogun West and Ogun Central. My father hails from Agosaga, Pahayi, Ilaro in Yewa South Local Government Area, while my mother was born to the Kemta-Odutolu Family in Abeokuta, Abeokuta South Local Government Area in Egbaland. I have absolutely no apology for my mixed parentage in Ogun State as it was not of my making “.

The respected lawmaker stated that he was indeed greatly honoured to be nominated, accepted and invested as the Grand Patron of a development-oriented organization with the primary focus on the development of Yewaland. He commended Yewaland Development Forum for recognizing his contributions to the development of Yewaland in both human and infrastructure aspects as well as contribution to Ogun State and national development over the years.

While acknowledging the great works of the Executive Governor of Ogun State, Prince Dapo Abiodun CON, in addressing some of the development challenges in the areas of roads, housing, education and healthcare, Senator Adeola reiterated that he will fulfill the promise of making Ogun West a “small London” and accomplish more for the benefit of the people.

Senator Adeola, the Aremo of Yewaland, equally delved into the issue of political power equation in Ogun State in tune with this year’s edition of “Yewa Talk” series with the theme “Harnessing Our Potentials and Opportunities Towards 2027 and Beyond” ably delivered by the Honourable Minister of State for Environment, Dr. Iziaq Kunle Salako. He highlighted that Yewa area has suffered in the scheme of things since the creation of Ogun State on 3rd February, 1976. He maintained that it is unjust and unequitable that no one from Ogun West Senatorial District has been opportune to lead the state as Number One citizen.

Before the keynote speech by Dr. Kunle Salako, the Honourable Minister of State for Environment, Ogbeni Wasiu Fagbohun, the President of Yewaland Development Forum, YDF, in his welcome speech, highlighted the need for the lecture, the investiture of Senator Solomon Adeola while also reeling out the modest achievements of YDF in line with its primary objectives through organising programmes and executing projects which have direct positive impact in the lives and livelihood of the people in Yewaland.

Among the dignitaries present at the occasion that has the who is who of Yewaland and Ogun State are Professor Rahman Bello, former VC of University of Lagos, Professor Anthony Asiwaju, emeritus Professor of Unilag, Rt. Hon Suraju Adekunmbi, former Speaker of Ogun State House of Assembly, Hon. Kayode Oladele, Hon Samuel Adejare, Hon. Kunle Adeyemi, Hon. Kola Lawal and Hon. Jimoh Ojugbele.

Others includes royal fathers, over 10 members of Ogun State House of Assembly and leaders of Ogun West Senatorial District.
