Former National Chairman of the Nigerian Bar Association, Olumide Akpata, on Friday, won the Edo State Labour Party governorship primary election. The Returning Officer for the election and Deputy Governor of Abia State, Ikechukwu Emetu, declared Akpata as the winner after collating the results. Emetu said the lawyer polled 316 votes to emerge the winner of the exercise. Akpata had in December 2023 explained that his ambition is not being sponsored by Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki. He said there was no truth that Obaseki would back him if his preferred candidate in the Peoples Democratic Party lost the ticket.…
