Ganduje To Northern Politicians: Drop Your 2027 Presidential Ambitions

National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Ganduje, has declared that Northern politicians smarting for showdown with the sitting President, Bola Tinubu for the 2027 Presidency to perish the thought.

The former Kano State governor made the declaration on Tuesday while receiving members of the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu Media Centre (PBAT Media Centre) and Tinubu Northern Youth Forum (TNYF) who paid him a courtesy visit at the party national secretariat in Abuja.

Checks revealed that President Bola Tinubu has not formally declared interest in a fresh ticket for the next general elections on the platform of the APC, however by convention, enjoys the right of first refusal for his party ticket.

Further checks revealed that the former presidential candidate of the main opposition party, the Peoples Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar and his counterpart in the New Nigerian People’s Party, ( NNPP) may also show interest in the race and have been linked with talks in a coalition party to oust the APC in 2027.

Ganduje who recalled that former President, Muhammadu Buhari incidentally from Katsina in the North West zone enjoyed a two-term of eight years insisted that it was the turn of Bola Tinubu from Southwest to exercise another 8 years mandate in what he called a fulfillment of power rotation between North and South.

He maintained that any politician of Northern extraction nursing a presidential ambition must be on a wild goose chase as he noted that “the north-south sharing formular must strictly be adhered to.”

He said: “When a leader from the northern part of this country was in office for 8 years, we advocated that the next president in our party should come from the south.

“And luckily enough, we worked very hard with the cooperation of Nigerians. Our president has come from the south and is going, inshallah, for second term, 2027. And then after that, it will return to the northern part of this country.”

Speaking on the state of the economy, Ganduje told his guests that “there is no doubt that many things went wrong over a long period of time, and it requires surgery before we can get it right.”

He assured that the economic policies of the present administration would turn around the fortunes of Nigerians for good.

“We are happy that we have started seeing the outcome of the reforms, especially on the economic front, and we believe this will continue to yield positive results so that the legacy and the Renewed Hope Agenda will be achieved.”

In his remarks, leader of the PBAT Media Centre, Honourable Dada Olusegun said members of the centre are set to correct all the wrong narratives about the performance of the present administration.

He said his team would give adequate publicity to the 2027 campaign of the present administration.

Earlier, the national coordinator of the Tinubu Northern Youth Forum, Mallam Auwal Ibrahim acknowledged that the policies and programmes introduced by the present administration have started to yield positive results in the region
