A fresh operation by the Nigerian Military and the Police has led to the rescue of 23 kidnap victims in Kajuru Forest, Kaduna State.
Deputy Superintendent of Police, Mansir Hasaan, the spokesperson for the Kaduna police command said a successful operation led to the rescue of the victims.
Hassan in a statement issued on Sunday, February 2, said the operation carried out with the military was based on a credible intelligence on the activities and movement of the bandits in the area.
He said operatives led by Kajuru’s Divisional Police Officer encountered the bandits while they were trying to relocate their victims.
He stated the operatives launched a heavy onslaught on the criminals forcing them to retreat and flee into the forest with gunshot wounds.
He said, “During the encounter, security forces inflicted heavy casualties on the bandits, forcing them to retreat and flee into the forest with gun wounds, resulting in the rescue of 23 kidnapped victims, who had earlier been reported kidnapped in Kauru LGA.
“The victims have been safely reunited with their families. Meanwhile, the area has been placed under heightened surveillance and aggressive patrols to prevent further criminal activities,” Hassan stated.
He also said that the police is committed to upholding peace and adequate security in Kaduna state.
