The Presidency has insisted that President Bola Tinubu is in Tanzania not for fun, but to chart a bold course for Nigeria’s energy sector.
Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Media and Public Communication, Sunday Dare, stated this on Monday.
Dare noted that the goal is to ensure energy security, affordability and sustainability.
“He’s not here just for the fun of it. Mr President will announce a dynamic, compact initiative coming from Nigeria that will help push this agenda forward,” Dare told journalists on the sidelines of the ongoing Mission 300 Africa Energy Summit in Dar-es-Salaam, Tanzania.
Highlighting Nigeria’s progress in the energy space, he emphasised that President Tinubu has accelerated critical initiatives to expand energy access.
“We already have something on the table from President Bola Tinubu. You know about the Siemens Project initiative that was initiated under the previous administration of President Muhammadu Buhari.
“We have seen how President Tinubu has come in with an accelerated phase of the Siemens initiative, moving it from 5,000 to a higher capacity,” he argued.
He noted that the announcement expected from President Tinubu will crystalise Nigeria’s commitment to renewable energy.
