The Edo State Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal has announced its relocation from Benin City to Abuja, effective Monday, January 27, 2025.
The notice was issued by the tribunal’s secretary, Mu’azu Bagudu.
It said that the relocation would take place at the National Judicial Institute (NJI) on Airport Road, Abuja.
“I am directed to notify all parties that the Governorship Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Benin City, Edo State, has been relocated to Abuja at the National Judicial Institute (NJI), Airport Road, Abuja, effective from Monday, 27th January 2025,” the statement said in part.
No reason was given for the move. However, it’s worth noting that several sessions of the tribunal have been marred by violence from political actors involved since its resumption this year.
