Stampedes: ‘Your Allegations Remind Us Of Your Sordid Past’ – APC Blasts PDP
The All Progressives Congress (APC) has accused the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) of politicising the recent stampedes that occurred in the country.
CityNews Nigeria reports that more than 40 lives, including children, were lost in three stampedes that occurred in Oyo, Anambra, and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
In a statement on Sunday, the PDP blamed the administration of President Bola Tinubu for the incidents.
The major opposition in the country said the recent stampedes in the country are a testament to the alarming level of misery, poverty, and hunger.
However, the APC Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, in a statement on Monday said it is insensitive for the PDP to exploit the recent tragic incidents for political gain.
He recalled how many Nigerians lost their lives at the ill-fated Nigerian Immigration Service recruitment exercise in 2014 at the Abuja stadium under the watch of the PDP administration.
The spokesperson said Tinubu embarked on the boldest and most courageous reform programme to rebuild our country’s economy, unlike the successive PDP administrations that operated a phantom economy.
He said, “Nigerians have not forgotten the tragic stampede at the ill-fated Nigerian Immigration Service recruitment exercise in 2014 at the Abuja stadium, under the watch of the PDP administration, that left many desperate job seekers dead and scores injured.
“The PDP’s allegations only remind us of its sordid record of maladministration and utter incompetence.
“The PDP is either mischievous or totally out of touch with reality to suggest that President Bola Tinubu-led administrarion has not shown commitment to Nigerians’ welfare.
“Changing course away from the lies and deception of the PDP, President Bola Tinubu embarked on the boldest and most courageous programme of reform to rebuild our country’s economy, and dismantling obstacles to true prosperity and sustainability.
