JUST IN: Ebonyi governor suspends another commissioner over alleged misconduct

Governor Francis Nwifuru of Ebonyi State has indefinitely suspended Uchenna Igwe, the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, for alleged gross misconduct and dereliction of duty.

The announcement was made during a briefing at the Government House in Abakaliki.

The suspension, effective immediately, follows Igwe’s reported failure to execute a directive involving local government pension payments by a council chairman.

This is the latest in a series of suspensions under Governor Nwifuru’s administration.

Three other commissioners, handling housing and urban development, water resources, and health, have been suspended for similar infractions in recent weeks.

The governor reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to upholding accountability and delivering on the “people’s charter of needs.”
