Six offices burnt as fire ravages Sokoto state police command headquarters

Six offices within the administrative block of the Sokoto State Police Command headquarters were gutted by flame as fire ravaged the facility on Saturday morning.

The source of the fire remains unclear, but swift action by firefighters helped prevent further destruction.

The fire, which broke out early in the day, left significant damage to the command’s administrative department before it was finally controlled.

While the extent of the destruction is yet to be fully assessed, the incident has sparked concerns about the safety and preparedness of essential government institutions.

Confirming the incident, the Sokoto State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Ahmed Rufai, said: “Yes, there was a fire incident on Saturday at the headquarters of the command in the state.

“The incident affected about six offices at the administrative block. The fire service later put out the fire.”

An investigation is expected to be launched to determine the source of the fire and the extent of the damage to the police command’s administrative department.
