Bandits raid general hospital in Northern state, abduct women

Some yet-to-identified bandits operating in Katsina State have raided the Kurfi General Hospital in Kurfi Local Government Area of the state.

The bandits reportedly shot at a security guard at the hospital and abducted the wife of a health worker and three other women.

Sources who spoke on the incident said the health worker was on duty and his wife usually joins him to avoid staying alone at home.

According to a source, the bandits invaded the facility at about 10 am unarmed.

They were stopped by the guard and an argument ensued when unknowingly to the security operative that other armed bandits were close by.

The source added that while the guard tried to lock the gate of the hospital, the armed bandits broke the barrier and gained access to the hospital to complete their operations.

“They jumped over the wall fence and shot the watchman in the stomach. It was thought that he had died but was later given first aid and rushed to a hospital in Katsina” the source said.
