The Publisher Nigeria reports that some political stakeholders have called on the former president to vie for office in the 2027 election.
However, Patience Jonathan has disclosed that her husband will not be joining the 2027 presidential race.
She explained that he has occupied the highest political office in Nigeria and has no further political ambition.
Speaking while hosting the Greater Igbo Forum in Abuja, the former First Lady said Jonathan had held numerous significant political positions.
She assured that the former president was committed to supporting the government in building a better Nigeria.
According to her, “My husband has reached the pinnacle of political office. What is he looking for again? We are not going in again.”
She also called on the Igbo people to unite and focus on the collective good rather than personal or political differences.
“We should love this country more than ourselves. Because if you don’t love this country, what is the future of our children?” she queried.
She also urged the Igbo community to set aside politics and work towards unity and development.
“Let us manage one another. Let us love ourselves. Let us be united and be our brother’s keepers,” she added.
