Students of the school flooded social media with reports about Ajayi Abimbola Adejoke’s death on Wednesday evening, describing it as another death caused by negligence on the part of the school.
One Lawal Ayo posted on X what looked like a circulated flier: “On the 24th of April, 2024, we lost Ajayi Abimbola Adejoke, a student of the Federal Polytechnic Ilaro (Leisure and Tourism Department) who was rushed to the school clinic but was not attended to immediately due to her not having a clinic card, But why? Should that be a priority?
“FPI, we need a proper health centre with professional doctors and nurses.”
One Aderinsola also posted: “It isn’t too late to opt in for a mass prayer walk within the school premises…
“Death is becoming rampant and no one is saying anything about it. A lady down today again. I guess if y’all know the record of students’ death, then y’all gon’ take this into consideration. Just this semester, 2 lecturers – 8 students deceased.”
A post by FPI Crown TV on its account claimed the lady was pregnant.
It said, “She was cooking when she complained of running stomach so she was asked to leave the kitchen and go outside. She was really sweating, and later on, her body system started changing and before we knew it, she couldn’t walk on her own again. Her fingers were already folding. She was rushed to the school clinic.
“On getting there, she was taken to the ward and they asked for her clinic pass. We told them that it was not available because her case was an emergency. All they said was that we should get the pass. For almost 15 mins, we were going up and down in the school clinic. They were able to give us her clinic pass. With time, they asked her to go for a scan before they could do anything because she was complaining of stomach ache.
“Later we heard she was transferred to Ore Ofe where she was given oxygen immediately, she was admitted there. In the long run, she died while they were performing a scan on her. It was there that we knew that she was pregnant.”
@l_larrynx also posted on X, “Please we need help in FPI. I don’t know the channels to go through, oppression is the order of the day as we speak. A student was taken to the school clinic and the student was refused treatment cos of clinic pass. The student is dead right now and nobody is doing anything about it. The students cannot even complain cos everyone is already in bondage @NigEducation @OGSG_Official @Letter_to_Jack.”
