Lagos State Government has announced that motorists caught driving against traffic, also known as “One-Way”, will now be subjected to psychiatric evaluation and prosecution.

Commissioner for Transportation, Oluwaseun Osiyemi, shared this insight during the commencement of the 2024 ministerial briefing held at Alausa, Ikeja, Lagos, on Tuesday.

The briefing discussed the ministry’s initiatives under the governance of Lagos State Governor Bababjide Sanwo-Olu.

Osiyemi stated, “The menace of driving against the flow of traffic is worrisome, and the state government is determined to curb it.

“Henceforth, any offender apprehended will be taken for pyschiatric test as well as prosecuted according to Lagos State Traffic laws.

Osiyemi expressed concern over the increasing number of fraudulent individuals in the metropolis who falsely claim to work for the Ministry of Transportation (MOT).

To tackle this concern, he provided hotlines for reporting such activities to the relevant authorities, noting that they could also be used to report traffic conditions across the metropolis.

Here are two hotline numbers you can use: 09020009000 and 09020004000.

Recall that Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, had ordered and supervised the arrest of some Okada riders plying one-way along Lagos-Badagry Expressway.
