Governor Mbah directs verification of local government staff

Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State has directed the biometric verification and capturing of all staff of the local government in the state.

This directive was disclosed in a public service announcement signed by the secretary to the state government, Professor Chidiebere Onyia.

According to the announcement, the exercise will commence on the 1st of December, 2023 to the end of February, 2024 and all staff of the local government are expected to be in their workplace.

The announcement reads:

“The Governor of Enugu State, Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, has directed the verification and biometric capturing of all local government workers in the state.

“The verification committee will be inaugurated on Friday, December 1, 2023 at the Government House, Enugu.

“The verification exercise shall commence on that same Friday, December 1, 2023 and continue till the end of February 2024 with random visits by the verification committee to any of the 17 local governments in the state any working day of the week.

“Workers are expected to be on duty with their letters of appointment and schedule of duty for verification and biometric capturing. Those absent and others confirmed not to have been fulfilling the terms of their employment shall cease to be government employees.

“Also, all local governments by this announcement are hereby directed to henceforth submit their lists of attendance for the previous week on Wednesdays to the Office of the Secretary to the State Government via the email address: ssg@enugustate.gov.ng“.
