The Joint National Executive Council (NEC) meeting of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress of Nigeria (TUC) has announced the suspension of the ongoing nationwide strike.
The strike was initiated in protest against the assault on the President of the NLC, Joe Ajaero, and other unresolved issues.
The decision to suspend the strike comes in the wake of the intervention by the Federal Government through the Office of the National Security Adviser (NSA).
Speaking after the meeting, the National Deputy Vice-President of the TUC, Tommy Etim, said: “The NEC of the NLC and the TUC have suspended the strike.
“We did this based on our trust for the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, who gave us his words.”
