1. Reports emerged on Saturday that the Federal Government is currently engaging the World Bank on a fresh $1.5bn loan.
Abbreviated as HOPE, the loan is titled ‘Nigeria Human Capital for Opportunities and Empowerment’ based on information obtained from the website of the Washington-based institution.
2. Fresh evidence has emerged on how a victim of ‘one-chance’ robbers in Abuja, Greatness Olorunfemi, was confirmed dead on arrival at the Maitama District Hospital, Abuja. It was gathered on Saturday that the deceased was brought into the hospital dead and there was no request for a police report as captured in the viral video.
3. Suspected bandits have invaded the Angwanwaku community in Kufana Chiefdom of Kajuru Local Government Area of Kaduna State, killing a villager, while no fewer than 19 others, including women were abducted. The Secretary of the Chiefdom, Tanimu Makaddas stated that the incident happened around 12:00 am on Saturday.

The Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Ilorin, Kwara State, on Saturday, declared the election of Miss Rukayat Shittu of the All Progressives Congress inconclusive and ordered a rerun in some polling units. The 26-year-old female legislator is representing Owode-Onire constituency of Asa Local Government in the State House of Assembly.
5. A former Governor of Kaduna State, Alhaji Muktar Ramalan Yero, Saturday, resigned his membership of the Peoples Democratic Party. The former governor made this known in his resignation letter dated September 30, 2023, addressed to the chairman of the PDP in Kaura ward, Zaria Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
6. Kidnappers of some worshippers in Ondo State have demanded N50 million as ransom for their release. Benjamin Akanmu, Regional Superintendent of the Christ Apostolic Church (C.A.C), Odubanjo Headquarters in Akure, revealed this on Saturday night.
7. The Governorship Election Petition Tribunal has dismissed the petition filed against the victory of Governor Ahmed Aliyu of Sokoto State by the candidate of the Peoples Democratic party (PDP), Sa’idu Umar, in the March 18 election. In its ruling on Saturday, the 3-member panel led by Justice Huruna Mshelia said the petitioner could not prove the allegations beyond reasonable doubts.
8. President Bola Tinubu, on Saturday, reassured Nigerians that his administration is already intensifying efforts to implement measures that will relieve citizens of the harsh conditions caused by the removal of fuel subsidy and unification of exchange rates. President Tinubu gave the assurance while speaking at the passing-out parade of Cadets of the 70 Regular Course, Direct Short Service at the Nigerian Defence Academy in Kaduna.
9. The Senate has commenced moves to bar any sitting Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) from engaging in partisan politics or contesting elections while in office. The immediate past Governor of the CBN, Godwin Emefiele, had attempted to contest the 2023 presidential primaries of the All Progressives Congress (APC) while in office.
10. The Senior Special Assistant to the Governor of Abia State on Homeland Security, Chukwunenye Nwaogu Alajemba has debunked media reports that he resigned his appointment following the alleged “autocratic and undemocratic” style of Governor Otti’s administration.
