A former Customary Court of Appeal President, Mrs Margaret Igbeta has been killed in her home located at Wantor Kwange Street in Makurdi metropolis.
Igbeta who is now 72 was found dead in a pool of her blood on Thursday night in one of her rooms.
Reports of her assassination on Friday indicated that the late Judge’s blood was spilled all over her house believed to have been carried out by assassins.
As of the time of this report, her assassins are yet to be identified by security agents but her body has been evacuated from her residence on the orders of Benue State Police Command.
The residence of the murdered Jurist is located opposite Benue State University College of Medicine, along Gboko road, Makurdi.
Sympathizers thronged the premises to have a glimpse of her body after the reports of her death filtered in.
A Police officer who spoke with select journalists in Makurdi, confirmed her death but said it is suspected that the killing might have been earlier than when it was reported, given the condition of the corpse.
“Yes, it’s true. Yesterday, Thursday her lifeless body was discovered in her house but the corpse was not looking too good again meaning that it couldn’t have happened yesterday; maybe a day before yesterday, Wednesday.”
