The President of Russia, Vladimir Putin on Thursday broke silence on the plane crash which saw the boss of Wagner Group, Yevgeny Prigozhin killed.
The Publisher Nigeria had earlier reported that the incident happened in Bologovsky district in the Tver region, 60 miles north of Moscow.
Prigozhin died alongside seven passengers and three crew who were on board the Embraer aircraft.
The Wagner boss before his death was known for his rebellion against the President of Russia, Vladimir Putin.
Putin in a televised speech said investigators would look into what happened but that it would take time.
According to Putin, he was told about Wednesday’s plane crash on Thursday morning.
Putin sent his condolences to the families of the dead and described the Wagner Group founder, Prigozhin as a talented businessman.
He said, “Initial data suggests employees of the Wagner company were on board.
“I would like to note that these are people who have made a significant contribution to our common cause of fighting the neo-Nazi regime in Ukraine.
“We remember and know it, and we will not forget it.”
