Popular Nigerian TV host, Rufai Oseni has claimed that the President Bola Tinubu-led administration has began subsidizing fuel again.
The political analyst stated this while reacting to the promise of the president that there will no longer be a hike in fuel price.
The Publisher recalls that Tinubu had said that he would address the inefficiencies within the midstream and downstream petroleum subsectors.
He said this move is to maintain prices where they are, without having to resort to a reversal of the administration’s policy in the petroleum industry.
Reacting to Tinubu’s assurance, Oseni argued that if price of fuel does not increase with the international increase of the commodity, then it means that it was being subsidized.
He wondered how it was possible to deregulate a sector and the president also fixes the price.
According to him, “If the pump price is not increased with international increase in the price then we are subsidizing petrol again. If not let market forces take over?
“How can you deregulate a sector and the president fixes price oo.What happens to market forces?
“Subsidy don return oo.How come na Oga Dey fix price of petrol wey dem don deregulate!
“No evidence you go explain tire oo Hahahahah.Subsidy and deregulation English too much!”
