There are controversies over the alleged resignation of the national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Adamu.
Speculation has it that Adamu and the National Secretary, Iyiola Omisore are been compelled to resign over failure to account for N32 Billion in the account of the ruling party.
There had been reports on Sunday that the Governor of Imo State and Chairman of the Progressive Governors Forum (PGF), Hope Uzodinma reportedly advised Adamu to resign.
Adamu’s failure to account for N32 billion earned from the sale of forms for the 2023 general election was the tipping point, according to party insiders.
An NWC member revealed to TheCable, “Only N7 billion remains in the account.”
Despite Adamu and Omisore’s claims that the account had been audited, details about the timing and selection of auditors remained unknown to other members.
“How can the NWC not be aware of the appointment? It is part of our responsibilities to appoint auditors,” an NWC member questioned.
When Adamu perceived the move to remove him, he reportedly sought support from chairmen of the party’s state chapters. However, his efforts were unsuccessful.
A party source disclosed to TheCable, “By the APC constitution, the proceeds were supposed to be shared with the zonal, state, and ward levels of the party, and they were not informed. So there was no way they were going to support him.”
