Popular Nollywood actress, Adesua Etomi-Wellington has disclosed how she felt when her husband, Bankole Wellington, aka Banky W told her that he plans on going into politics.
The Publisher Nigeria recalls that Banky, on November 11, 2018, declared his intention to run on the Modern Democratic Party’s platform for the Eti-Osa Federal Constituency seat.
On February 23, 2019, Babajide Obanikoro of the All Progressives Congress defeated him in the election for the Eti-Osa Federal Constituency.
In the 2023 elections, he ran for the same seat under the banner of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), but lost to Attah Thaddeus of the Labour Party (LP).
Speaking on her husband’s political ambition during an interview on Hip TV, Adesua admitted that she was initially worried and disturbed when Banky revealed his plans to her.
However, the thespian stated that she decided to support him because “purpose is more important than fear.”
According to her, “When Banky said that he wanted to go into politics, I was a little bit worried and disturbed about it.
“But I also believe that purpose is more important than fear. And I want to see him fulfil purpose. So, he has my support 100 per cent.”
