Newly elected Senate President, Senator Godswill Akpabio, has visited the former governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, at his residence in Abuja.
THE PUBLISHER NIGERIA reports that Senator Akpabio was accompanied by Senator Barau, the Deputy Senate President, along with several other Senators.
Mr. Wike played a pivotal role in Akpabio’s success, having declared that the senators from Rivers State would overwhelmingly support Akpabio’s bid to become the new Senate President of the 10th Senate Assembly.
Despite being a member of the opposition People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Wike has developed a newfound rapport with the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), of which President Bola Tinubu and Akpabio are also members.
In a previous report, this newspaper highlighted that Godswill Akpabio, a former minister of Niger Delta and ex-governor of Akwa Ibom State, emerged victorious in the race for the Senate President position in the 10th Assembly, defeating Abdul’aziz Abubakar Yari, the former governor of Zamfara State.
