A suit filed by the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) seeking to disqualify the presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi has been dismissed by the Court of Appeal, Abuja.

The presiding judge, Justice Monica Dongban-Mensan while delivering his judgement, dismissed the appeal on the grounds that the appeal lacked merit and APM lacked the legal right to initiate the suit.

The appellate court also awarded a cost of N200,000 against APM in favour of the Labour Party and Obi who are the 2nd and 3rd respondents in the suit.

Obi is contesting against the likes of Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Rabiu Kwankwaso of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) and several other presidential candidates.

The former governor of Anambra State with less than three weeks to the February 25 presidential election is hoping to take over from President Muhammadu Buhari at the end of his tenure in May.
