2023: Peter Obi Finally Reacts To Arthur Eze’s Comments

The flagbearer of the Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi, says he is unfazed about the comments made by a popular businessman, Arthur Eze, on his presidential bid.

Recall that Eze dissociated himself from Obi’s ambition while speaking at the occasion of the 2022 Ofala festival of HRH Igwe (Dr.) Robert Eze, the traditional ruler of Ukpo in Dunukofia Local Government Area of Anambra State.

The billionaire also stated that he asked the Labour Party presidential candidate not to waste his money on the 2023 election because he would not win.

He had said, “I warned Peter Obi to withdraw from this race but he would not listen. I told him plainly that I am not part of his plans. I told him to drop his ambition, and wait for next time.

“When he told me about his ambition, I asked him the states he thinks he can win in the west and in the north – he told me; but I was not convinced. I told him he cannot win; so that he would not waste his time and money.”

Speaking to reporters at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport, Lagos on Wednesday, Obi said the billionaire is entitled to his own opinion, and beliefs and has the freedom of speech and expression.

The former Governor of Anambra State described Eze as a respected father and mentor not just in the South East but in Nigeria at large, saying that his views are always respected.

Obi, however, urged his supporters not to allow adverse comments to dampen their spirit or force them to lose focus on rescuing the country in 2023.

He said: “Once again, appealing to his teeming supporters, Obi advised them not to allow what some consider as adverse comments to dampen their spirit or force them to lose focus on the goal.

“Such speeches should always be taken positively, as reminding us that we still have several hurdles to cross and to remain focused at all times, without being dragged back.”

Obi stated he is prepared to remain with many suffering Nigerians, who see the 2023 election as the hope for Nigeria to overcome the sufferings of the past and start a new life.

The LP flagbearer opined that everybody is suffering in the Nigeria of today, stressing that some are more directly affected than others.

Obi said he had decided to devote the rest of his life towards contributing to solving the myriad of Nigeria’s problems and call on Nigerians of goodwill to join the cause for the emancipation of the country.

He said:  “Such Nigerians suffering are the millions of people who do not know where the next meal will come from; thousands of Nigerian students who no longer go to school on account of hardship; those who cannot get adequate health care due to the collapse of that sector, over 100 million Nigerians that live in poverty.
