EFCC has uncovered huge quantities of money at Benue Police Barracks.
The Publisher Nigeria reports that the Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC), an agency saddled with the responsibility of fighting illegal acquisition of wealth in Nigeria on Tuesday, at Nigeria Police Barracks Wadata, Makurdi discovered huge quantities of money.
This online news platform understands the monies uncovered at the Benue Police Barracks, which were in different denominations, were stacked in more than 5,000 of 50kg sacks, bearing Unity Bank logos.
The Publisher Nigeria gathered that the owner was earlier arrested by the operatives of the anti-corruption agency and taken to their Zonal Office in Makurdi but was later freed after a series of investigations.
When contacted, the owner of materials who wouldn’t want his name mentioned, said he has been into the business of buying condemned money from the Central Bank of Nigeria, selling them to his customers who use them for production of other finished goods such as cartons, crates of eggs etc.
A cursory look at each of the parcels shows that the shredded monies which were in N1000, N500, N200, N100, have been grounded and glued together like cartons after staying for many years.
