Shehu Sani Speaks On Reason Behind Appreciation Of Naira Against Dollar

Former Senator for Kaduna Central, Shehu Sani, has disclosed the reason for the recent appreciation of the naira against the dollar.

The Publisher Nigeria understands that naira rose to N730/$ after falling to about 900/$ a few days ago in the parallel market.

 

Speaking on the development via a tweet on Friday, Shehu explained that the Naira appreciated against the Dollar because of the alleged threat by the United States against the hoarding of the Dollar in several places around the world including Nigeria.

He wrote, “Forex dealers are insisting that Naira appreciated against the Dollar not because of any CBN intervention but because of the alleged threat by the US against the hoarding of the Dollar in Nigeria.”

According to reports gathered, following the announcement of the naira redesign by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Naira fell against the dollar in the black market.

The presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi says he was humbled by the show of love from supporters in Edo State on Friday.

Obi who was in the state for a campaign rally, took to his micro-blogging site, Twitter account to share his experience.

Sharing pictures of the massive crowd that stormed the campaign ground, Obi wrote: “What an awesome and OBIdient crowd in Benin. I am deeply humbled by Edo people’s show of love and support. -PO”

The Publisher Nigeria reports Obi also paid a courtesy visit to the Oba of Benin as part of his activities in Edo State on Friday.

Speaking about the visit, the LP presidential candidate via his Twitter handle, described the crowd that welcomed him as humongous and the reception as wonderful and warm.

His tweet read, “I am in the palace of the Oba of Benin; greeted by a humongous crowd, wonderful reception and warm hospitality… I am grateful, and delighted to be here. -PO.”
