Nigerians have been warned that the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Bola Ahmed Tinubu will not be different from President Muhammadu Buhari if elected into office come 2023.
Human Rights Writers Association of Nigeria, HURIWA, gave the warning while reacting to President Buhari’s latest medical trip to the United Kingdom.
They pointed out that the President’s latest medical examination in the United Kingdom says a lot about two major national issues in Nigeria.
The group further berated the President for failing to keep to his campaign promise to end medical tourism in Nigeria, but has instead spent over two hundred days on foreign medical trips with the country’s money.
Buhari left for London on Monday October 31, 2022, for routine medical check-up and HURIWA warned that Nigeria should never again elect someone who is medically unfit to govern.
According to the rights advocacy group, the APC candidate for the presidential election has proven beyond doubts that he is medically unfit.
The group claimed it was unimaginable that even before the campaigns started, Bola Ahmed Tinubu had gone to London, France and USA over five times for alleged medical tours.
“Nigerians must have it at the back of the minds before casting their votes, with few weeks to the end of his first term in office, President Buhari has spent a total of 404 days (a year and 39 days) travelling to 33 countries on four continents in about four years of his first term in office, as captured by a media report recently,” HURIWA said in a statement signed by Comrade Emmanuel Onwubiko.
