Nnamdi Kanu: Buhari’s Failure To Keep Promise, Reason For Amaechi’s Death – Coalition

The Coalition of South East Youth Leaders, COSEYL, has attributed the death of former Minister of Aviation Chief Mbazulike Amaechi to failure of the President Muhammadu Buhari-led Federal Government to keep to its promise.

Amechi, who was known for his interventions for Igbo land, including the release of the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu, died on Tuesday at the age of 93 years.

Reacting to the sudden death of the elder statesman, COSEYL in a statement issued by its President General, Goodkuck Ibem said Amaechi’s death was “not far from the fact that President Buhari had promised him that he (Buhari) would release his son, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu from DSS custody if the court set him free but failed to keep the promise”.

According to the coalition, Amaechi felt betrayed that despite his age and stance on issues of the nation, President Buhari and the Attorney General of the federation Mr Abubakar Malami disrespected him.

“The Great Nationalist died because after all the suffering and going to jail in order to get the independence of Nigeria from the British, President Buhari and the Minister of Justice and Attorney General of the Federal cannot respect him by honouring a promise made to him at his age.

“Mbazulike died due to the facet that Buhai and disobeyed the Court of Appeal judgement which freed Nnamdi Kanu from the DSS custody. The insult caused his death.

“It is very unfortunate that the current leadership under Buhari has no respect for the rule of law and the promise they made with their own mouth. Too sad!.

“We commiserate with the entire Igbo nation and Nigeria over the great loss of such an upright nationalist who fought so hard during his youthful age to give us the freedom and democracy which we are enjoying today,” the statement added.
