Former president Goodluck Jonathan has said that he is willing and ready to support the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate for the 2023 election, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar.

The Publisher Nigeria reports that Jonathan said this in a video doing rounds on social media.

“I wish you more success in all our endeavours, especially those who want to represent us from next year,” he said.

The former Nigerian leader also referred to Atiku’s running mate, Ifeanyi Okowa, as “our incoming vice-president”.

Okowa was accompanied to the meeting at Jonathan’s residence in Abuja by chieftains of the major opposition party.

Ahmed Makarfi, former PDP chairman, Liyel Imoke, former governor of Cross River, and Bala Mohammed, governor of Bauchi state, were also present at the meeting.

Commenting, Okowa said Jonathan “embodies all the characteristics of a true statesman,” adding that the purpose of the visit was to “discuss the state of the nation and our plans to rescue, reset and rebuild Nigeria”.
