Former Imo State Governor, Emeka Ihedioha on Friday said the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) “operates like a secret cult”.
Ihedioha, who was also a former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives and a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), played down the party’s in-fighting, saying it is part of democracy.
He stated this while speaking on Channels TV’s Sunrise Daily programme.
“What do you hear about the APC? It is a party that operates like a secret cult. We are a democratic party. So in a democratic party, everyone presents the issue,” he said.
Speaking on Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Ihedioha said he has a profound respect for the former Anambra State governor.
“Governor Peter Obi is a politician that has earned his place. He is a man I respect and have good relationship with.
“All I urge everyone is, let’s be very conscious. The real danger is any opportunity to the APC, and then we should not inflict self-damage on ourselves.”
