Niger State Government has given a beer vendor in Mariga local government area 24 hours to relocate his business risk sanctions.
The state chairman of the Liquor Licensing Board, Mr. Usman Ayuba Katako gave the directive when the operation unit of the Board raided the joint and sealed the beer parlour in Mariga town.
The beer joint known as Godwin Beer Parlour, which operates in a residential building in the heart of town, was reported to have stocked trailer loads of assorted beer in the build.
Katako explained that the board had served the beer parlour owner many letters to vacate but he refused to comply with any of the directives.
He said ”by this final letter of relocation by the board at the expiration of the order, the board will be left with no option but to take necessary action”
“The law prohibiting the sale and consumption of liquor in restricted places is still in place.
He warned those still in the practice of selling liquor to desist or have their products confiscated and prosecuted in a court of law when caught.
The chairman then called on those willing to do liquor or beer business in the state to always seek consent from the Board to avoid falling victim to circumstances.
