Newsone reports that the Federal Government has given an update on the commencement of two Month Npower Stipends Payment as it has revealed the reasons for the payment of the delayed stipends. Recall that beneficiaries of the scheme are entitled to receive 12-month stipends.
Explaining on Monday a source within the office of the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development minister Sadiya Farouq explained the reasons for the delay in payment of two monthly stipends given to beneficiaries of its social intervention programme N-Power.
According to the source who claimed anonymity, “The ministry is planning a special package for the stream 1 who may soon be ending their own program.
He also said that there are plans on going for retention of a category N-Power beneficiaries whose contract will expire this month.
He further said that the ministry was making efforts to develop a good exit package for the beneficiaries and that the money owed would be paid to beneficiaries upon conclusion of the plan which will be revealed this September.
OVER 7,000 BENEFICIARIES TO RECEIVE CASH GRANTS, GEEP LOANS, IN IMO, ABIA
The Federal Government has begun the disbursement of Cash Grants for Vulnerable Groups in Imo and Abia states.
The Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, Sadiya Umar Farouq flagged off the programmes on Saturday, Sept 10, 2022, at the Concorde Hotel Owerri, alongside the Digitized Payment for Conditional Cash Transfer.
At least 3,894 beneficiaries across the 27 Local Government Areas of the State will receive a twenty thousand Naira one-off Cash Grant for Vulnerable Groups in Imo state while about 4,738 beneficiaries were selected for the Government Enterprise Empowerment Programme interest-free loans.
In her address, the Minister stated that the beneficiaries will receive loans ranging from N50,000 to N300,000 for farmers, petty traders, widows and youths.
“Today, l have come to Roll-Out the programme in the “Land of Hope” Imo State. Hence, successful beneficiaries of the GEEP proagramme will start receiving credit alerts from Access bank by God’s grace.
“This is a programme designed by President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration for vulnerable and low-income Nigerians who are involved in some sort of commercial activity or capacity but have never had the opportunity to access loans. It is meant to give priority to the most vulnerable in our society eg widows, youth, disabled and the displaced amongst others”.
NATIONAL GEEP 2.0 ROLLS OUT NATIONWIDE
The Government Enterprise Empowerment Programme GEEP 2.0 has been officially rolled out.
The Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development Sadiya Umar Farouq launched the National phase of the programme at Daura Kasuwar Kofar ‘Yan Kudu market along Daura road, Katsina state at the weekend.
Minister Umar Farouq said during the presentation of Cheques to peasant farmers and petty business women, that the interest-free loans to beneficiaries was in line with President Muhammadu Buhari’s avowed commitment to fight poverty and its devastating impact from all angles.
“The Government Enterprise and Empowerment Programme (GEEP) is a programme designed by President Muhammadu Buhari administration to create further opportunities for the poor, vulnerable and low-income Nigerians, especially those who are involved in viable informal productive activities with limited financial requirements, but have never had access to loans from the formal financial sector.
“It is meant to give priority to the most vulnerable in our society like widows, youth, Persons With Disabilities and the Internally Displaced Persons amongst others”.
6,511 BENEFICIARIES TO RECEIVE CASH GRANT FOR VULNERABLE GROUPS IN KATSINA
Over 6,500 beneficiaries will receive federal government’s Cash Grant for Vulnerable Groups in Katsina state.
The Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development Sadiya Umar Farouq made this known at the flag off of 7 projects in Katsina state and other poverty eradication programmes of the ministry held in Katsina on Thursday.
Minister Umar Farouq said that Katsina ranked amongst one of the highest with 6511 beneficiaries due to the insurgency in the region.
“Our Grant for Vulnerable Groups target in Katsina State is to disburse grants to a total of 6,511 beneficiaries across the 34 Local Government Areas of the State, worth over N130 million. This is one of the highest slots in the country and is majorly because we took into account the impact of the insurgency, banditry and large volume of IDPs in the state.
“While the target of this Cash Grant project is to increase income and productive assets of the target beneficiaries, it is highly expected that the beneficiaries will utilise the grant to improve their productivity, create wealth, generate employment and improve their standard of living”.
Batch C Stream 2 deployment of 490,000 Npower beneficiaries in progress
The Deployment of 490,000 successful beneficiaries of the Batch C Stream 2 Npower Programme is currently ongoing.
The Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management, and Social Development through the Minister’s SA on Media and Publicity, Nneka Ikem Anibueze, disclosed the ongoing process on Saturday, stating that the Batch C Stream 1 Npower Programme ends this August 2022.
“Batch C Npower beneficiaries were divided into two streams, C1 and C2. Batch C1 was deployed in September 2021 and is due to exit the programme this August 2022 after spending 12 months in the programme.
“The payment system is transparent and verifiable using the FECs approved NASIMS platform where each beneficiary sees on the platform, reasons for payment and non-payment owing to truancy or transaction failure.
“The batch C2 pre-selected applicants have concluded their physical verification exercise using one of our strategic partners (NYSC).
“The deployment process commenced on the 1st of August for 490,000 beneficiaries to fill the space of one million N-POWER beneficiaries as approved by Mr President,” stated Mrs Anibueze.

NPower management has assured Npower beneficiaries that “all failed payments from September 2021 to 2022 will be paid as backlogs”.
The management who made this known in a Facebook post said it’s “working tirelessly on all payment issues to ensure they are cleared and paid out.”
The statement reads thus; “All our teams in different departments are working tirelessly to ensure we serve you better. All inconveniences caused by the apparent irregularities during the course of this program is highly regretted. Thank you.
It added “Just as we had assured in time past that all failed payments from September 2021 to 2022 will be paid as backlogs, we are really working tirelessly on all payment issues to ensure they are cleared and paid out. We appreciate your patience so far and solicit for more while resolution last, as it will soon be completed.”
