Just In: Panic As NYSC member killed in Adamawa lodge

A member of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Samaila Awudu, has been killed at his lodge around the Adamawa State capital, Yola.

The incident occurred at the Yolde Pate NYSC Corpers’ Lodge in Yola South Local Government Area where the 28-year-Old Samaila, said to be from Taraba State, met his end.

Indications on Sunday evening were that the incident happened on Friday when five armed assailants stormed the lodge and attacked the corp member, wounding him.

He was rushed to the Federal Medical Center (FMC), located within Yola South, where he later died.

A corps member, who witnessed the incident, said when the killers arrived at the lodge, they locked up all the doors of the other corps members before going to Samaila’s room.

The witness who objected to being named, said, “They used an axe in cutting him and thought he was dead. Maybe they were hired killers, we don’t know. Right now we are all living in fear.”

The Adamawa State NYSC Director, Jingi Dennis, has said steps were being taken to unravel the killers of Samaila.

Also speaking on the incident, the Adamawa State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Sulieman Nguroje said the state Police Command under CP Sikiru Akande is already carrying out an investigation to find out those behind the Killing.

“We are assuring all members of the public that this is an eye opener because this is the first time this kind of thing would happen in Adamawa State, and the Command has already met with the NYSC Officials so that the lives of NYSC members in Adamawa State could be secured.

“When the incident happened, the Commissioner of Police drove down to the scene and he was the first person to take him to the hospital himself,” Nguroje said.
