Hundreds of members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) have embarrassed the governor of Kwara State, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq.
POLITICS NIGERIA learned that the APC members (aggrieved) were planning to defect to the main opposition, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). But as Governor Abdulrazaq tried to steady their nerves, he got chased away as chants of “Ole [meaning, a thief]” and “Sai Bukky” rented the air.
“Sai Bukky” is a slogan local politicians in Kwara State adopt to hail Bukola Saraki, a former governor of the state, and erstwhile Senate President of Nigeria.
Kwara is one of the states where intra-party crisis seems to constitute a threat to the ruling APC as 2023 approaches.
The party faces a tough battle in this state as the 2023 general elections draw near.
Checks by this newspaper revealed that except aggrieved members are pacified, the party’s performances may be close to the Osun State scenario.
