Presidential candidate of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, has slammed the administration of President Buhari for the poor management of ASUU strike.

The former vice president, Atiku said that keeping youths at home when they should be in school is akin to wasting the productive minds of the country.

Atiku said his love for education and his belief in the age-old cliche ‘the mind is a very terrible thing to waste’ empowered his desire to further his education even in the later years of his life.

Atiku called on President Buhari to immediately fund ASUU for the sake of the youths who have been out of school for months.

He said, “The mind is a very terrible thing to waste. It may be a bit cliche, but I nevertheless believe this. And strongly too. Education is a priority to me. That is why I invested in it and even furthered my education.

The Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU embarked on an indefinite strike in February, demanding implementation of an agreement it had with the Federal government in 2009.

Getting to five months students of universities have been at home, ASUU has consistently accused the Buhari government of being insincere in its negotiation.
