Chicago State University Confirms Bola Tinubu Attended their Institution

Chicago State University Confims Bola Tinubu Attended their Institution

The Chicago State University has reportedly confirmed that the national leader of Nigeria’s ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and presidential aspirant, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu , indeed attended the tertiary institution.

The Punch reported that Beverly Poindexter, who is in charge of the university’s official transcript requests, enrolment and degree verification at the Office of the Registrar, CSU, said this in an email response to its request on Tuesday, January 25.

Poindexter wrote:“Mr Tinubu did attend our university, however, if further information is needed, go to studentclearinghouse.org website to make a formal request.”

It was gathered that the university had earlier stated that Tinubu was its student between 1977 and 1979.

This was also confirmed in a letter dated August 20,1999 and signed by the then Registrar, Lois Davis.

He wrote:“Please be advised that Bola A. Tinubu did indeed attend Chicago State University from August 1977 through June 1979. He was awarded a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business and Administration with honours on June 22, 1979. His major was Accounting.”

This development is coming after the APC presidential candidate told the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), that all his academic certificates are missing.

The former Lagos State governor, who claimed he had two degrees from two American universities, further stated that the certificates had been looted in the 1990s by “unknown persons.”

The disclosure was contained in an affidavit submitted by Tinubu to the electoral office, as part of his eligibility filings for the 2023 presidential elections.

According to documents released by INEC on Friday, the APC candidate claimed he attended University of Chicago between 1972 and 1976, where he obtained a B.Sc. in Economics. And also had B.Sc. in Business and Administration in 1979, as well as a certificate in Public Account.

The documents also shows that Tinubu left the columns for his primary and secondary education unmarked.

Meanwhile, a civil rights organization, Center for Reform and Public Advocacy, on Saturday demanded the prosecution of APC presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu, for alleged presentation of a fake academic qualification.

The group had accused the APC presidential candidate of supplying false information on oath, in his Form EC9 submitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The CPRA Legal Adviser, Agu Kalu, who made the call at a press briefing in Abuja, asked the Inspector-General of Police, Alkali Baba,to order the arrest of the APC candidate within 48 hours or face a legal action.

Kalu insisted that Tinubu was not legally qualified to become Nigeria’s next president for supplying false information to INEC.

He said: “We wrote a petition to the IGP on June 16, demanding the prosecution of Tinubu for providing false information on oath in his INEC form CF 001 which he submitted in 1999.

“Since the IGP is yet to act on the petition, we are using this press conference to call on the IGP to do the needful.
