2023: Threat Against Atiku Not From Ohanaeze – Ohanaeze President
The President-General, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Professor George Obiozor, has stated that the threat against PDP presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, did not emanate from his Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide.
The President-General, Prof. Obiozor, in a statement made available to newsmen, said mischief makers were responsible for the purported press release.
Ohanaeze Ndigbo President-General Worldwide, Prof. George Obiozor stated that the Igbo apex socio-cultural organization are still watching the primary elections of the contesting parties, and at no time did Ohanaeze delegate any person or group of persons to release any press statement on its behalf.

Condemning the statement as the work of mischief makers, in the statement signed by the National Publicity Secretary, Dr Alex Ogbonna, Prof. Obiozor, said the Ohanaeze which he leads cannot release such statement that has brought the image of Ndigbo avoidable ridicule.
The statement read,” “The attention of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide has been drawn to a reckless publication currently circulating in the media indicating that Ohanaeze Ndigbo “blasts Atiku and vows to work against his PDP candidacy in the 2023 polls; and that Atiku Abubakar, will never become Nigeria’s president”.
“It is therefore imperative to inform that those behind the fake press release are mischief makers, impostors, charlatans and unscrupulous social climbers who have shamelessly leeched on the invaluable footprints of Ohanaeze Ndigbo to issue press releases for narrow, perverse and illicit pecuniary interests. It is the unwholesome activities of such maladjusted, impish scaremongers that has been the bane to Igbo cohesion.”
Ohanaeze said, “For the avoidance of doubt, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, the apex Igbo socio-cultural body, led by Ambassador Professor George Obiozor has not issued any press statement on the candidacy of Alhaji Atiku Abubakar. Ohanaeze awaits with keen interest, the full outcome of the ongoing primaries by all the political parties before it can issue a press release with respect to the Igbo position on the 2023 general election.
Obiozor cautioned, “We remind the general public that the Secretary General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide is Ambassador Okey Emuchay, MFR and that any claim to the contrary is to say the least, devious and irresponsible”.
The Northern Youths Council of Nigeria, NYCN, stated that it would not allow any South-East presidential candidate to campaign in any of the 19 Northern states of Nigeria.
The President of NYCN, Comrade Isa Abubakar, made the statement in reaction to a statement credited to Ohanaeze Ndigbo, that the Peoples Democratic Party presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, will not be allowed to campaign in the South-East.
