1. The Presidency has welcomed the decision of the United Kingdom to acknowledge the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) as a terrorist group. The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Malam Garba Shehu, said this in a statement issued Friday night.

2. Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State has asked the Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Mr Godwin Emefiele, to resign if he has interest in the 2023 Presidency. Akeredolu made the call hours after the CBN governor joined the presidential race for the 2023 general elections.

3. Asiwaju Bola Tinubu and Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo were the cynosure of eyes at a meeting of South West stakeholders on the 2023 Presidency. The meeting, which was held at the Lagos Government House, Marina, was put together by former governors of Ogun and Osun States, Chief Olusegun Osoba and Chief Bisi Akande, respectively.

4. The Airline Operators of Nigeria (AON) has announced the shutdown of operations, with effect from Monday, over the skyrocketing cost of Aviation fuel, which has reached an all-time high of N700 per litre. The operators sympathised with the passengers, saying Jet A1 has shot up the cost of operations to over 95 percent.

5. Governor Dave Umahi of Ebonyi State says President Muhammadu Buhari has agreed to a political solution to the threat the outlawed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) pose to the South East region in particular and the nation in general. He said this while speaking at a meeting the President had with South East leaders during his two-day State visit to Ebonyi.

6. Former Governor of Zamfara State, Senator Sani Yerima has declared to run for the 2023 presidential election, under the platform of the ruling All Progressives Congress. The former Senator, who represented Zamfara West at the National Assembly, was spotted at the Presidential Villa Abuja on Friday, where he came to inform President Muhammadu Buhari about his intention.

7. Leaders of the All Progressives Congress in the South-West, on Friday, cautioned presidential aspirants from the zone to guard against their utterances. It was gathered that the meeting, which was held behind closed-doors at the Lagos House, Marina, also resolved that name calling and other personal attacks should not be encouraged by the aspirants and their supporters.

8. The Supreme Court, yesterday, stopped the Federal Government from ceding 17 disputed oil wells to Imo State. The apex court, in a unanimous decision by a seven-man panel of Justices led by Justice Olukayode Ariwoola, partly resolved the ownership dispute of the oil wells in favour of Rivers State.

9. The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), has appealed to President Muhammadu Buhari to grant state pardon to Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB). Rev. Fr. Ibrahim Nwali made the appeal on Friday in Abakaliki while speaking on behalf of CAN members in a town hall meeting with Buhari, who was on a two-day state visit to Ebonyi.

10. The Federal Government on Friday said it would resume talks with the striking Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) next week with a view to ending the prolonged closure of Nigerian public universities. The Minister of Labour and Employment, Senator Chris Ngige disclosed this.
