Former Governor of Abia State, Orji Uzor Kalu has denied dropping his 2023 Presidential Ambition.
Many news platforms on Tuesday reported that Kalu pulled out of the race after stating that he would like to focus on the Senate where he currently serves as Chief Whip if his party, the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, does not micro-zone the position.
He wrote on Social media; “In the absence of this zoning, I shall return to the Senate and stay away from the presidential contest. The reality is that the North is more advantageous to win elections in this democratic setting.”
“It is my desire and intention to run for the Presidency of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. I am committed to this pursuit, but I can’t make an official declaration in this regard without the full support of other regions.”
However, in an interview on Tuesday evening, Kalu told journalists that he is still very much in the race.
In his words; “I am still in the race, I’m in the race if it’s zoned to the South-East”
“I am interested”, He said.
