2023: Peter Obi defeats Osinbajo, Tinubu, Amaechi in Presidential Poll – Report

Former Anambra state Governor, Peter Obi, has emerged winner of an online poll conducted ahead of the February 25, 2023 Presidential election.

In a report released by Nextier, a multi-competency advisory firm, and Data-Tier, a data analytics and digital communications firm, the former Governor defeated other political juggernauts who have declared interest in the office.

Explaining their methodology, the firms stated that it issued a survey to seek insights into the race.

“With over 65 potential aspirants, the study team needed an empirical methodology to narrow the field to a more manageable number that could be included in the survey instrument. This approach is to ensure the survey provides meaningful insights,”

According to the report obtained by POLITICS NIGERIA, the team conducted the survey for two weeks (Wednesday, February 23 to Wednesday, March 9, 2022), using www.SurveyMonkey.com, an online data collection and polling platform

“The team contacted respondents via various social media platforms, including WhatsApp, Facebook, Twitter and Google Messenger.”

It also added that no discriminatory criteria were used in administering the survey.

“The same advertising budget was spent in each of the six geopolitical regions to boost the survey. All
respondents had equal opportunities to participate in the survey.”

Meanwhile, in reeling off its findings, the firm stated that Obi topped the list of 15 high-ranking presidential contestants.

“Offered the option of 15 candidates, almost half of the respondents (46.04 percent) selected Peter Obi as their most preferred candidate for president,” the report read.

Trailing behind Obi is Vice President Yemi Osinbajo who got 27.84 percent and former Governor of Lagos, Bola Tinubu, who came third with 7.49 percent.

For the office of the Vice President, the report indicated that the top picks are Aminu Tambuwal (28.05 percent) , Musa Kwankwaso (19.27 percent), and Peter Obi (16.27 percent).
