Newsone had reported on Thursday, April 14, 2022, that the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Usman Baba has approved the promotion of 21,039 junior officers of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF).

  • 20,572 Sergeants to Inspector
  • 324 Corporals to Sergeants
  • 143 Constables to Corporal

    The Force Public Relations Officer said police promotion is part of efforts aimed at improving the welfare, and conditions of service and boosting the morale of personnel for greater efficiency.

    The statement added that the IGP’s move is part of “ongoing efforts aimed at improving welfare, conditions of service, boosting the morale of personnel, with a view to repositioning the Force for greater efficiency.”

    According to the statement, “the promotion of the officers is part of the manpower development drive of his administration to ensure that deserving personnel are promoted accordingly, to encourage hard work, and further embed the culture of merit, excellence, and dedication to duties.”

    Newsone reports that IGP Baba assured in the statement issued by the Nigeria Police on Thursday evening, that he remained committed to manpower development to ensure that deserving personnel are rewarded to encourage hard work.

    According to the statement, “the promotion of the officers is part of the manpower development drive of his administration to ensure that deserving personnel are promoted accordingly, to encourage hard work, and further embed the culture of merit, excellence, and dedication to duties.”

    Newsone reports that IGP Baba assured in the statement issued by the Nigeria Police on Thursday evening, that he remained committed to manpower development to ensure that deserving personnel are rewarded to encourage hard work.

    The IGP informed senior police officers that the Force high command is liaising with the Police Service Commission (PSC) on the release of their promotion. He commended the newly-promoted officers for their resilience and charged them to see their new ranks as a call for renewed zeal, vigour, and patriotism to duty.

    “The Force high command is liaising with the Police Service Commission on the release of their promotion, which is expected to be approved and released as soon as possible,”

    he assured.

    However, Newsone reports that as of Thursday evening when the news of the police promotion broke, the full list of newly promoted police officers consisting of 20,572 Sergeants to Inspector, 324 Corporals to Sergeants, and 143 Constables to Corporal, was not online but it has now been exclusively obtained by this online news platform.
