(Reuters) – The White House on Tuesday said moves by Senate Republicans to block a vote on a slate of President Joe Biden’s nominees for top jobs at the Federal Reserve would be “totally irresponsible” given challenges facing the U.S. economy.
“Some Senate Republicans are playing politics with the American economy by blocking a vote on the Chairman of the Federal Reserve and an entire slate of well-qualified nominees,” White House spokesperson Jen Psaki said.
“Such an extreme step would be totally irresponsible at a time when it’s never been more important to have confirmed leadership at the Fed to help continue our recovery and maintain price stability.”
